According to Dean Randall Lindstrom, "My mother, Aline, said that she met my dad, George, at a Saturday night dance in Overton in 1933. They were married at Westmark Church parsonage on Feb. 14, 1934."

Traditions

Christmas Eve gatherings at the Lindstrom farm were traditional ethnic events with lots of family and food. Lutefisk, potato baloney and Christmas cookies made up the Swedish gastronomy of the evening meal. Lindstrom and Vaughn family members from all over were invited to share in the food, singing and gift opening.

Here's an 8mm film of Christmas Eve 1959, featuring a Santa Claus visit:

Obituary

"Aline Kleone Lindstrom, passed away July 20, 2009 in Holdrege, Nebraska. She was born March 16, 1914 in Phelps County, Nebraska the second of four children to Ed and Ethel (Olson) Vaughn. She was confirmed at Westmark Church and attended faithfully. She attended School District 70 for eight years. She did domestic work in many homes, but with her mother's poor health, she was needed at home.

"On February 14, 1934 she was united in marriage to George D. Lindstrom at the Westmark Church parsonage with a reception at the new Dale Hotel in Holdrege. To this union, three children were born: Dean Randall, Shirley Aline and Larry George. The family made their home on the Lindstrom homestead where they both spent their entire life. The first years of marriage were hard and lean. No rainfall, no crops just farm produce sold. Aline later became an active member in the Holcomb Church where she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and was persistent in the family's attendance at church. George passed away on July 9, 1981.

"Aline was a member of the Tre-Kroner Swedish Society, the Sod House Society and Holdrege Senior Citizens Band and Chorus. She was a member of the Jolly Jane's and Needle Craft clubs. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to many states and Canada. She also enjoyed her pioneer family history and the fellowship with friends, family and grandchildren. She was employed as a cook for the R-4 School. She loved flowers, gardening and being outdoors. Aline was an exceptional seamstress and spent much time at her sewing machine.

"Aline leaves to mourn her two sons: Dean Lindstrom and his wife, Jan of Kearney, NE; and Larry Lindstrom and his wife, Dorla of Elm Creek, NE; brother, Lee Vaughn and his wife Ruth of Kearney, Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Alberta Vaughn of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
