Family

Johannes and Katharina had 14 children. Nine of these children seem to have immigrated to the US:

  • Georg and Andreas both immigrated to the US, and both appear in Paw Paw, Illinois in the 1880s and 1890s[4], and Ida, Iowa in the 1900s.[5].
  • Anna Rosina appears in Paw Paw, as well.[6].
  • Michael Andrew (aka Michael Andreas?) appears in Illinois[7].
  • George Volkert died in Cushing[8].
  • Karl Volkert died in Cushing[9]
  • Jacob Volkert died in USA[10]
  • Kathrina Eliabeth died in USA[11]
  • Johann George died in USA[12]

6 Volkers born in the 19th century are buried in the Cushing Cemetery.[13]
