Georg's father [[Johannes Volkert]] is buried in Germany, which indicates that Georg came to the US on his own.  Since he married [[Barbara Margaretha Hummel]] in Illinois, in 1882, we know he came before 1882.  And given that he came without his parents, he was presumably 18 or older, making his immigration no earlier than 1873.
