Immigration to America

Georg's father Johannes Volkert is buried in Germany, which indicates that Georg came to the US on his own. Since he married Barbara Margaretha Hummel in Illinois, in 1882, we know he came before 1882. And given that he came without his parents, he was presumably 18 or older, making his immigration no earlier than 1873.
