Obituary[6][edit]

Jane A. Linn, 92, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 14th, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Pastor Deb Lind-Schmitz officiating. Graveside services will be in Shelby Cemetery, in Shelby, IA, at 1:00 pm on Friday.

Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 PM Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Jane Ann Linn was born on March 10, 1918 in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Conrad) Triller. She was baptized and confirmed in Dubuque, attended Dubuque public schools and graduated from the University of Dubuque in 1940 where she sang in the acappella choir. She taught in Fairbanks, IA and Neola, IA for a short time.

On December 31, 1942 she married Dr. Everette Edward Linn in Tampa, FL. They lived in Ames, IA, from 1946 until 1950 while Everette was attending Veterinarian school. In 1950 they moved to Ackley, IA, before moving to Waukon in 1963. Jane taught English, Science and Home Economics at Waterville and later Waukon Jr. High from 1964 until retiring in 1983.

Jane was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon and was active in the Presbyterian Women’s groups. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Browning Club and National Education Association. Jane enjoyed reading, golfing, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Janet Linn of Santa Fe Springs, CA, Steven (Patricia) Linn of Solon, IA, John (Kathryn) Linn of Burlington, IA, Mary Ryan of Washburn, IA and Lisa Linn of Waukon, IA; 6 grandchildren, Shawn Linn, Angela (Josh Reuther) Linn, Brett Thomas, Michael (Sarah) Linn, Marne Ryan and John & (Gretchen) Ryan; 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everette who died in 2002; a son-in-law, Tom Ryan; her twin brother, James and a sister, Mary Glancy.
