On January 1, 1850 a James Walker sold a 40 acre plot of land near the Walker Cemetery. (User:Jim.lindstrom: James Sr. died in 1848, so I assume the James Walker who sold the land was James Jr.) The land in question was "the SW quarter of the NE quarter of section 36 in township 78N of range 6W of the 5th principal meridian in the district of lands subject to sale at DuBuque, Iowa Territory, containing forty acres."
