According to granddaughter Peggy Jeanette Schneider, "[My] mom's mom was always called Cressie Elizabeth but my research has the spelling Cerisie L. Robinson. I am not sure the spelling is right for the last name." Peggy believes that Crissie died in May 1954., which accords with the findagrave.com reference below.

Family Ties

Crissey and Chester's marriage in 1907 was at least the third Roberson-Henry union:

• In 1904, George E Roberson married Chester's first cousin Mollie Henry
• In 1886, Crissie Roberson (1869) married Chester's fourth cousin, once-removed, Lloyd Jefferson Henry. This Crissie died 12/30/1963 and is buried in Wanette Cemetery in Pottawatomie Co, OK

• 1900 Federal Census: Kessie E Robersen. Born Sep 1888 in TN. Parents: George Washington Roberson, Susan Jane Welch. Younger siblings: Effie Robersen (b c. 1890), Tennie Robersen (b. c. 1892), Luther Robersen (b. c. 1893), Lolie Robersen (b.c. 1893), James C Robersen (b. c. 1895), Mertie Robersen (b. c. 1898), Lonzo Roberson (b. c. 1899). Note that both of these parents and several siblings are buried with Crisey (Henry) Allen in Wanette Cemetery.
• Crissey and Chester were married on January 30, 1907, according to Tennessee State Marriages, 1780-2002.
• In the 1910 census, Crysie E (age 21), husband William C Henry (age 24), and children Nora E (age 2) and William C (age 6 months) live in Civil District 5, Putnam, Tennessee.
  • Crysie was born in 1889 in Texas. Her parents were both born in Tennessee.
• In the 1920 Census, Cerise L Henry (age 23), husband Chester Henry (age 35), and their four children Ethel N (age 11), Carol W (age 10), Haskel T (age 8), and Dortha L (age 6) live in Chickasaw, Pontotoc, Oklahoma.
  • This is an interesting (contradictory) census record. She has a differently spelled first name, different middle initial (L vs E -- although that could stem from "liza beth" vs "elizabeth"), different age (which looks definitely not to be a poorly written "33"), and is listed as being born in Texas, whereas the childrens' mothers-birthplace are all listed as Tennessee.
• Between 1920 and 1954:
  • Several family trees on Ancestry.com suggest Crissey was involved with (re-married?) a William "Tee" Allen (which would explain her last name in the Wanette Cemetery. The photos section (above) shows her with William.
  • The thomasarnold family tree and Conley Family Tree reference this 1920 Federal Census record (in conflict with the above 1920 Census record), which lists William as black and Crecy as mulatto.
  • The Clark Family Tree claims, without support, that Cressie married William Allen in 1934.

• Crisey (Henry) Allen, born 9/25/1888, died 5/30/1954 and was buried in Wanette Cemetery in Wanette, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, according to findagrave.com. (In this same cemetery, countless other Henrys and Robersons are also buried. It's not clear when or how Crissey would have obtained an "Allen" surname")

Historical Records (alternate possibilities)

• 1900 (Possible matches):
  • 1900 Census: Lizzie Roberson. Born Nov 1891. Parents: Charles N, Nellie L. Home in 1900: McKinney, Collin, Texas. Parents both born in Tennessee. (Father, Charles Nathan Roberson died 21 Mar 1947 in Collin Co, Texas.)
  • 1900 Census: Catherine Robertson. 12 years old (b. 1887), white, female, born in Texas. Parents: William D Robertson and Catherine Robertson, both born in Tennessee. Family appears to have moved from Tennessee to Texas between 1872 and 1878. Father died in Texas in 1914, though; making it unlikely that they would have moved back to TN in order for Crissey to meet Chester. (Although, who knows--maybe they traveled back briefly to meet family in TN.)

• 1930 (possible, though less likely, match):
  • 1930 Census lists a Dorchester L Roberson, age 41 (born 1889 in Texas; parents born in Arkansas), as a lodger in Houston, Harris, Texas. It lists has widowed, but having married at age 23.
  • The same person died 28 Feb 1950 in Tarrant Co, Texas.
