To do: William's father may be find-able. Also need to identify William and Nora's children. (User:Jim.lindstrom)

William Antone Schneider[1]
Born c. 1907[2]
Texas[3]
Spouse Ethel Nora Henry
Children Peggy Jeanette Schneider
Parents John Schneider[4]

According to Peggy Jeanette Schneider: "My dad was William Antone Schneider, my paternal grandfather was John E. Schneider and was born in Cologne, Germany . Came to the US when he was about 16 and as far as I know they came thru Ellis Island."[5]

  • Ethel and William are buried in Oklahoma City, OK[6]
    • Conflict: The Parkview Cemetery in Phelps County, NE claims that Nora Ethel is buried next to Wilson Burnette Bass, Jr. in the Parkview Cemetery. Perhaps this information about William's burial location is also inaccurate?

Historical Records

  • The 1910 Federal Census shows the family in Collin County, Texas:
    • Father: John (c. 1869) in Germany, both parents born in Germany, immigrated in 1887
    • Mother: Ellen (c. 1880), in Arkansas, both parents born in Tennessee
    • Children: Katy (c. 1904), William (c. 1907), John Jr. (c. 1909)
  • In the 1920 Federal Census, William is in Greeley County, Oklahoma, as part of this household:
    • Father: John Schneider, born c. 1869 in Germany, both parents born in Germany, immigrated 1881
    • Mother: Jenny Schneider, born c. 1870 in Alabama, father born in Alabama, mother born in Tennessee
    • Children: Katie (c. 1905), William (c. 1907), John Jr. (c. 1910), Ellen (c. 1912). All born in Texas
  • A different 1920 Federal Census record from Oklahoma has the same father and children, but a wife/mother named Etta, who is from Germany

Who are the moms/wives? Etta, Ellen, Jenny?

  • William (age 23) is living with wife Ethel (age 21), their son Eugene (age 4), and her siblings Dorothy Henry (age 16) and Haskell Henry (age 17) in Bristow, Creek County, Oklahoma, in the 1930 Federal Census. William is listed as having been born in Texas, with a German father and a Texan mother. He is a butcher at a meat market.
