The biography says that William "fought on the side of 'the Orange' at Boyne, July 1, 1690, and was said to have been in Capt. Hugh Wilson's company, the first Irish officer who crossed the river." This biography gives the same story:

Hugh Wilson was born in County Cavan, Ireland, in 1689, and was a son of Hugh Wilson, who was an officer in King William's army, and was one of the three men who crossed the River Boyne, July 1, 1690,-facing great danger. For this act of heroism, he was rewarded with a tract of land containing one hundred and sixty acres at Cootehill, County Cavan, Ireland, where he established a country seat. His son, Hugh, married Sarah Craig, and in 1728 came to America (history says), to escape religious persecution, settling near Bethlehem in Northampton county, Pa. [...]

On the other hand... The above links to Hugh Wilson match a Hugh Wilson, born in 1689, emmigrated to PA, whose father was not Hugh Wilson Sr, but rather Thomas Wilson (1660-1720) (Ancestry). This Wilson family history agrees, listing Thomas Wilson as the Captain Wilson who was one of the 1st three men to cross the river Boyne in the famous battle.
