HOLDREGE — Lelah Roth, 94, of Holdrege, formerly of Kearney and Axtell, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Christian Homes in Holdrege.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Christian Homes Chapel in Holdrege with the Rev. Gene Layne and Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating. Burial will be at the Moses Hill Cemetery in rural Phelps County.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege and before the service at Christian Homes.
She was born Oct. 8, 1911, near Hollinger to Howard and Ivy (Morse) Henry.
She married Chris Roth Aug. 20, 1933, in Oberlin, Kan. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Paul of Axtell; daughters Rita Carlson of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Dorla Lindstrom of Elm Creek; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors include her daughter-in-law Carol, of Axtell; sons-in-law Harold Carlson of Idaho Falls and Larry Lindstrom of Elm Creek; grandchildren, Kristi Newman and her husband, Dan, of Axtell, Douglas Roth and his wife, Robyn, of Axtell, Holly Goodman and her husband, Jim, of Boise, Idaho, Heidi Carlson of Phoenix, Wade Lindstrom and his wife, Teri, of McHenry, Ill., Nathan Lindstrom and his wife, Jeanette, of Elm Creek; brother-in-law Norman Tweet of North Dakota; and other relatives and friends.
She was born on the family farm in Furnas County and was the second of four children. She received her education in the Hollinger and Beaver City schools and graduated in 1928 from Hastings High School. Following her education, she did domestic labor in Evergreen, Colo.
Her husband was from Oxford and formerly was of Kokomo Indiana. The family farmed around the Edison, Oxford and Axtell area during the Depression. In 1946, they purchased a farm north of Axtell. She lived and worked on the family farm until she and her husband retired and moved to Kearney.
The family attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Axtell and later the couple went to Emmaus Evangelical Free Church north of Funk. After moving to Kearney, she was active in the Kearney Evangelical Free Church. She accepted Christ as her savior and lord as a young lady and was baptized at the Sappy Creek at Beaver City. Throughout her life, she enjoyed a close relationship with her Lord Jesus Christ.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sharing her wonderful baked goods with others, church work, spending time with family, sewing, making many beautiful quilts and traveling in her later years. On July 16, 1996, she became a resident of the Christian Homes.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Elmo Henry and his wife, Bess; and sisters Violet Picraux and her husband, John, and June Tweet.
A memorial has been established.
