A "Fred Benedix" (likely either Lena's husband, or her father-in-law) is mentioned having traveled to Sioux City to pick up cattle with Lena's father Wilhelm Hoppe in 1913. If that Fred was Lena's husband, then maybe that Fred worked on Lena's father's farm before they were married; if that Fred was Lena's father-in-law, it suggests that the Hoppe's and Benedix's were family friends.
