  • Ancestry.com has a nice [family-tree visualization] that would be cool to borrow/copy. -- Jim.Lindstrom 00:48, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
  • We could use a way of indicating estimated dates, especially in marriage and residence templates; so as to indicate time estimation without creating a template error or a [present value] result.--Elindstr 06:15, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
    • This should be do-able. I'll see what I can do. What convention would you prefer for approximate dates? c. 1880? Something else? -- Jim.Lindstrom 16:29, 9 October 2010
      • "c." works--Elindstr 16:36, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
        • I implemented this on marriages. See: Johann Hummel. The way it displays now (m. c. 1800-c. 1900) looks kind of dumb, though. Is there a better way? -- Jim.Lindstrom 0:44, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
  • It's a bit odd that most of the starting points are now ascendants of Grace. Maybe this is begging the question of what this site's purpose should be. At first, I thought it would just be cool to combine the Linn and Lindstrom history on one place. Does it seem likely that folks beyond those families will be interested enough in this site to be offended that their family is not listed on the start? I'm not sure. -- Elindstr 04:39, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
    • Other sites (e.g., rootsweb, ancestry.com) address this by letting each user/family create their own database. This achieves letting the family curate which people they want to have show up in their view, but fails at encouraging cross-family collaboration and integrating people across databases (i.e., does the person have TWO records? Who keeps them in sync?). Need to think of a better solution to this problem... -- Jim.Lindstrom 23:43, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
