Military Service

Larry entered the navy during peace time in the 1950s. He was based at [Guantanamo Bay] and served on the [USS Intrepid]. Larry recalls the Intrepid cruising up to the Arctic Circle, down to the Panama Canal and back. The Intrepid was decommissioned in 1974 and was moored in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard awaiting scrapping. In 1982 it was re-opened as a museum, docked in the Hudson River near New York City's Times Square.[1]
