The Shelby Cemetery has been a Linn family meeting point for years. [[Franklin Bryce Linn|Frank Linn]] and his son [[Leslie Leonard Linn|Les]] were each caretakers of the cemetery and members of its leadership board. [[Franklin Bryce Linn|Franklin]] was responsible for building the pond at the entrance to the cemetery. The bench next to the pond was constructed as a memorial to Les. The main Linn plot, where [[Jacob Booher Linn|Jacob]] and [[Hester Ann Chilcoat|Hester]] are buried along with many of their children, is immediately west of the cemetery office.

Georg Carl contributed land to the [[Cushing Cemetery]]. The April 27, 1911 edition of the Correctionville News writes:

A suitable location for Cushing's new cemetery has at last been found. Last year the town council undertook the establishment of a burying ground and decided on a plot of ground on the Organ farm. Chas. Baldwin, the present owner, however, strenuously objected, and the deal fell through. For several years, our German citizens have been agitating a movement of this kind and finally took it into their own hands to provide Cushing with a suitable resting place for the dead. A number of influential members of the Lutheran church met here Saturday and selected a two-acre tract on the Volkert farm adjoining the Stewart place, three-fourth of a mile west of the Lutheran church on the Correctionville road. I do remember my Grandma and Grandpa Hoppe very well. They were both alive until I was in Jr. High (grandpa died) and High School (Grandma died) ( or around then). The were a big part of my life. Went there for most holidays (except for Memorial Day was ALWAYS the Linn side) and they came to see us quite often too. I went to stay a week every summer with them in Correctionville and loved it. (Caught frogs, played with the chickens, picked raspberries, stayed int their upstairs....and played with my cousin, Jane.) It was great fun! My Grandma was a wonderful seamstress and she helped sew a couple of dresses for Homecoming and proms. My Grandpa was quite a teaser.....always teasing and playing with us kids. Henry Hoppe and Miss Rosa Hoppe attended the young couple, while Dorothy Benedict and Helen Kurtz were the flower girls. Rev. Langkammerer performed the ceremony.

A splendid wedding dinner was served at one o'clock, only near relatives being present.

The young couple will start housekeeping the first of March and will occupy George Volkert's farm four and a half miles northwest of Cushing.

Best wishes for happiness in their life are extended to the young people.
